Abstract:

Rivers are discussed as sources of water supply for various uses including agriculture, industry anddrinking. Thus, monitoring the quality of these resources due to the recent drought and urban and ruraldevelopment is one of the important tasks in the field of environmental management. In this study, nine stations sampled seasonally the Karoon river, Dez, Karkheh in a one-year period from October2010 to September 2011 was conducted to coincide with cold and warm seasons. Parameters such astemperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, BOD and COD concentration of anionsand cations with original and microbial parameters were measured. The study used data from theNational Quality Indicators NSFWQI, Pollution Control Commission of India, the Ion ratios andWilcox index. Analysis of parameters on the basis NSFWQI index showed that In the second half ofthe season coincides with the period of high rainfall is high than 50, indicating that quality is bad.Classification of river water quality standards of the Central Pollution Control Commission of Indiais also roughly consistent with the results of NSFWQI. The results showed that the maximum ionconcentration of cation ions sodium –magnesium and chloride anion is the minimum concentration ofions. The classification was measured according to Wilcox index, the resulting quality of the waterwas used for irrigation and drainage for salinity control in the management of land.

karkheh river water quality using multivariate statistical analysis and qualitative data variations

background: the spread of urbanization in floodplains as well as increase of industrial and agricultural activities in river discharges may lead to water pollution by physical, chemical and biological pollutants. one of the major concerns in monitoring the water resources system is indentifying major quality parameters and determining a relationship between physical and chemical parameters. thi...

Determination and Simulation of Water Quality in Karkheh River Using QUAL2K Model

Karkheh river is located in southwestern of Iran. Industrial and agricultural activities around the river contaminate it through its path. Water quality modeling from upstream of Shoosh city to downstream was simulated by QUAL2K model. In this study, we investigated how best to manage the quality of Karkheh river to be done. Nine parameters including BOD, COD, DO, PH, turbidity, nitrate, phosph...

Evaluation of Karun River Water Quality Scenarios Using Simulation Model Results

Karun River is the largest and most watery river in Iran. This river is the longest river which located just inside Iran and Ahvaz Metropolis drinking water supplied from Karun River as well (fa.alalam.ir). Karun River as the main source of water treatment plants in Ahvaz, like most surface waters affected by various contaminants which caused changes in water quality of the river (www.aww.co.ir...

Assessment of water quality of Gamasiab River using BMWP and ASPT Indices

The rivers are under threat by numerous pollutions and their quality assessment is a need. Water quality of the Gamasiab River in Kermanshah Province was assessed using biological indices (BMWP and ASPT method). Six stations were selected and macro invertebrates were collected by surber sampler from July 2013 to May 2014. In this study, 11 families of the macro invertebrates from 10 orders were...

Spatial and Temporal Variability of Water Quality for Karun River, in Upstream and Downstream Gotvand Dam

In this study, the spatial and temporal variability of water quality including monthly series of TDS, EC, So4, Cl, Ca and Na in common statistical period 1993-2014 was evaluated for the Karun River. This assessment is based on qualitative data stations including Susan in the upstream of Gotvand reservoir, Gotvand, Mollasani and Ahvaz in the downstream. To determine the parameters trend process,...
